Not many organisations such as ours can boast 25 years of existence, and come 2012 - just over 2 years away-that’s when our silver anniversary will be due.
We marked various anniversaries in various different ways, depending on how the branch had evolved, receded or metamorphosised at that particular time!
It may be that the majority of people simply think that the 25th anniversary should be marked with nothing more than a cup of tea and biscuit before putting the lights off and going to bed, while others may think that the fireworks should be let off at midnight.
If YOU have a view could you email Peter at ozhibs@hotmail.com with what you think we should do to mark our silver anniversary.
Personally the Fred Legget view is that we SHOULD mark it…. preferably with a get together at one location as opposed to a series of locations…and my nomination would be for Perth, who always manage to get the numbers and have been one of our consistent enthusiastic locations - with perhaps an invited special guest.
Obviously there is a cost to all that, questions about whom the guest of honour should be etc, funding issues etc, etc.
Sure there would be lots of challenges to overcome – but nothing will happen unless we kick off discussion – and given that it will be 2010 before we can say “hibs will win the cup this season’ we need to start any planning and decision making exercise soon.
So get your thinking caps on and email Peter at ozhibs@hotmail.com with any suggestions.
